As a 60+ year old mother of two, and grandmother of two, who no longer works 60+ hours a week, I have been given the gift of travel with family, as well as solo, from time-to-time. (“Let me count the ways I love” frequent flier mileage programs.)
In 2009, I was diagnosed with two health conditions which cost me a job, and can slow me down. I refuse, however, to be defined by my illnesses and I won’t give them power by talking about these conditions unnecessarily. But, if I don’t rest, I can suffer the consequences of flare ups, therefore I must be mindful of my limitations, just not obsessed.
I believe we create our own reality and by moving forward in life armed with knowledge, compassion, patience, and love, there would be no need for those other “arms.”
